What We Believe
We believe that the Bible is God's word to human beings. It tells us who God is, who we are and what the relationship is and should be between us.
Specifically, it says that:
- God is the Designer and Creator of the universe. He is a personal God and cares about the people he has made.
- Jesus Christ is God. He has always existed, but became man and lived on earth to show us what God is like. He lived a perfect life in which he brought forgiveness, comfort and healing to those in need.
- Jesus died for all people. His death was not an accident, but a voluntary sacrifice in which He took the punishment for our wrongdoing.
- Jesus Christ is alive today. Three days after his death, Jesus lived again and was seen by many witnesses before returning to heaven, where He lives as Lord and Saviour of His people.
- We can be forgiven for all our wrong. Forgiveness and eternal life are a gift to those who will admit they have “sinned” (done wrong) and place their confidence in Jesus Christ as their Saviour, and in his death as being the only basis of being right with God.
- Those who commit themselves to Jesus Christ become members of God’s family. We are motivated to lead clean and honest lives by an appreciation of Christ’s love for us. The Holy Spirit directs us and gives us the ability to live this new kind of life.
- Jesus Christ is coming back again for his followers. Ultimately, all people must stand before God. Depending upon their response to Christ in this life, people will either experience a painful terrible separation from God forever, or the joy of life with God for eternity.
