Westlake Lausanne Pastor
Martin Slack
Martin was born, brought up and worked in the south coast of England before coming to Switzerland to join the other elders as Westlake Lausanne's first full-time pastor.
Martin became a Christian aged 16, after being given a Gideon's New Testament and speaking with his Christian physics teacher. He studied medicine at Cambridge University, where he met his eventual wife Su, who was also studying medicine. Following graduation Martin trained in paediatric and neonatal medicine becoming a Consultant Neonatologist in 2004. At the same time as training in neonatology Martin undertook a course of study with the Open Theological College.
Su was born and grew up in Japan where her parents were missionary church planters and she made a commitment to Christ when she was 14. Su studied medicine at Cambridge and Oxford Universities with elective periods in India and Canada. After graduation Su trained in surgery and accident and emergency medicine. She gave up her medical career to be a full time mum and to home-school their four daughters.
Martin, Su and their girls moved to Lausanne in April 2008 to begin their ministry at Westlake. Working full-time in the church is the fulfillment of a long term dream for them.
