Children are a vital part of the church and we are grateful for every single one of them! We understand that they are under pressure from peers and shifting values within society. We seek to partner with parents in helping children at Westlake build their lives on the truths of God's word, so that their lives are built on the solid foundation of His word to them and love for them. Sunday Club We start in Nyon our afternoon service all together and then the children head downstairs for their own program. We currently cater for between 40-50 children, aged between 3 and 10 years old. We offer 4 age appropriate groups, and use the Scripture Union material to steer the children through the Bible! We try and ensure a good mix of fun and games, story times, singing, prayer, drama, puppets, quizzes, DVDs and crafts so that learning is something the children want to do as well as catch up with their friends and teachers. We want that the 'seed' we sow takes root in their hearts and bears fruit, their whole lives long, not just during the times they are with us! At Westlake, we also encourage the building of relationships among the children through activities outside of regular class time. We do this through a variety of ways but especially during special activities at Christmas, at the annual Church Retreat, as well as at other times during the year. |
Our Sunday Club program is involved in providing financial support to a child who lives with a foster family in the Ukraine. We believe that the children learn valuable lessons about giving in this way. Children are important to us at Westlake but their families are too. We know that families come in all shapes and sizes with all sorts of stories to tell of high times and low times. We understand that families who may relocate often or who have moved to another country for a time can be under extra pressures. We seek therefore to serve children not just through Sunday Club but also through serving their family unit! Once a month we organise a morning just for dads and Kids called "Making Memories', a time for Dad to be with his kids around games, crafts, movie clips, recipes, shaving foam, water and whatever! Having fun together and Making Memories along the way! Parenting and Marriage Courses run regularly through the year, to which everyone is welcome, whether a part of the church at Westlake or not! 'Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.' Mark 10:14 As you can see, children and families are very special at Westlake!
